Heads-up
September 22

We have exciting news at Beagle and Wolf—we're switching to a new POINT OF SALE SYSTEM! Ok, so maybe it's more exciting for us than for you....... And hopefully you won't notice any difference in your in-store experience, other than a few days of  booksellers staring at the computer screen and muttering while ringing up your purchases. This change will not happen until Monday, September 22, when we’re due to "go live.” The store will be closed for most of that day while we hopefully master (or at least can fake competency) our new system. We plan to open at 3PM that afternoon and we will host the Beagle Women's Book Group at 5:30. This change in point-of-sale system also means our website will look different......and we hope that those of you who have shopped on our shop.beagleandwolf.com website WILL notice a big change. For several years, we've had two websites: 1 beautiful site full of info about the bookstore (thanks to our Web Designer/Artist extraordinaire Hannah) and 1 site for online shopping. All will be in 1 site going forward. We'll keep you up to date on our web address. Your loyalty program points and your in-store credit will still be intact. Your outstanding gift certificates will still be honored. If you have any questions, please email Jen: jen@beagleandwolf.com.

Mary Oliver fans REJOICE!

book coverLittle Alleluias: Collected Poetry and Prose is being released on September 9.

This brand-new collection* of poems and prose has been approved by Mary Oliver's estate. It will be published the day before what would have been Mary's 90th birthday. Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Natalie Diaz, whose work is often in conversation with Oliver's, has written the foreword.

*Note that the collection is new.

book coverSeptember is also good for Kevin Young fans!

Night Watch will be out September 2. If you've never experienced Young's poetry podcast, “The New Yorker Poetry,” it's well worth a listen.

book cover And one last BIG poetry release this month...

Ada Limon's Startlement is being released September 30.

Not to be overshadowed by...

Blue Opening by Chet'la Sebree, which will release September 16.

This new collection of poetry is a deceptively slim volume that will keep readers engaged much longer than would be expected from 96 pages.book coverThe writing is varied in form, rich in metaphor, and even the white space is bulging with meaning. The subject matter of these poems are the biggies—life, birth, illness, or more concisely: existence. My favorite of the collection, as much for its brilliant use of the form as its content, is an erasure poem titled “It's Just.”

This is a new-to-me poet and I'm looking forward to gobbling up all her past work.

True North Cabin Cookbook: Volume Two
Seasonal Recipes from a Cozy Kitchen

Stephanie Hansen

Welcome back to Cookbook Corner!

book coverDo you remember that gem of a cookbook, True North Cookbook?

Did you love it like I did? Well, fret not! There is a sequel to the True North Cabin Cookbook Collection (now it’s a collection) called True North Cabin Cookbook: Volume Two: Seasonal Recipes from a Cozy Kitchen It contains more recipes for rustic elegance as you entertain at the cabin or home for family and friends.

To make it more fun, its chapters are divided into months (fall to early spring) with full menu options from start to finish. Looks like making a menu just got easier!

Recipes like easy focaccia bread, cranberry orange bread (wipes mouth, sorry drooling) Roasted brussels sprout Caesar salad!

Use this cookbook when you entertain friends and family at the cabin or home this fall and winter and life will be so much easier.

Happy Cooking!
